DM, just a thought. Do you have a trash can near the bench? I've dropped or accidently pushed stuff off the bench into mine quite a few times. Each time I had to dump it out and go thru it.

Stay safe.

Jim Captain

Hmmmm, just woke up....  http://www.sherv.net/cm/emoticons/sleep/sleepy-smiley.gif sniff,sniff.......

Thanks for the suggestion.   Nahh,   no trash can.

I always pick through any leftovers on the counter (no mass sweeps) and quite often re-purpose pieces of chopped sprue to put in my "Fruit of the Sprue" jar.

                                      http://th150.photobucket.com/albums/s94/SaraMaciu/smileys/th_sandysmilie.gif

http://www.sherv.net/cm/emoticons/jobs/toolman-smiley-emoticon.gif     The only time I really ever have to find something is if it's a tool and I've placed it in the wrong drawer..

Thanks again....

Got to head out to our meeting tonight at the model club.

http://www.sherv.net/cm/emoticons/hello/little-cutie-says-hello-smiley-emoticon.gif

I'm sitting here listening to 99.9 oldies on Tune in.....  http://th38.photobucket.com/albums/e105/CommentCrazyGirl/Smileys%20Action/Music%20Dance/th_humming.gif

... the very best music from my time and X-tra super on Sunday from noon 'till 3pm.

http://www.sherv.net/cm/emo/happy/music.gif REALLY BRINGS ME ALIVE!! http://www.sherv.net/cm/emo/happy/music.gif

Ok. …… http://www.millan.net/minimations/smileys/didisaythat.giffinally.
Here’s how the 37 mm went…. and with only one good eye.
(I lost vision in my left eye back in 1995 and my hearing (permanently) in my left ear in 1978 due to a brain tumor.)

It’s NOT perfect but it IS tiny…….uhh… the gun, …..http://www.sherv.net/cm/emoticons/hand-gestures/spying-smiley-emoticon.gif not my eye.

Since this is too small to make proper gunnery wheels that have four spokes, this is what I did…. several times.
I’ve seen these type of solid wheels before.

The picture is a bit blurry but it gets the idea across good enough. The gunnery wheels were punched out plastic card and the rims were made by pre-shaping copper wire and tacked into place with superglue on the back sides followed by Tamiya thin on the front sides. It wasn’t hard.

And next,

a group picture of the evolution and the (magic of the) painted items.
Bits of brass, plastic sprue, plastic card and tiny parts cut from other unused items.

 I got a bigger box.......

Again, https://karopka.ru/upload/main/smiles/5/unknw.gif I know it’s not perfect but as far as I’m concerned it does the job.

Sorry this took a while to post here but sometimes life gets in the way......

But man, this music.....    just make's me so happy!

https://karopka.ru/upload/main/smiles/5/1.gifgot a bit carried away there.

http://thmg.photobucket.com/albums/v372/Bianca_thd/smileys/th_monkey_butt.gifI've finally quit a lookin'

More coming soon................

Great! http://www.sherv.net/cm/emoticons/hand-gestures/go-ahead-smiley-emoticon.gif

I'm happy to spread the word about it. On Sundays, listening to those wonderful songs from yesteryear always gets me revved up to take on the next week.

Thank you Hutch for your reply.

I'll be putting up the partially painted results of the "major sub assemblies" as soon as I can get the pictures taken.

After I upload those "in progress shots" and when I have the model all put together, I'll be taking better staged pictures of the completed model for review.                                                                                                                                             Waving animated emoticon

WOW!

I have this kit in the "Stash".  Sorry I'm late to your }build".

I am greatly impressed with your "Sub" assembly (Pun intended?) work.

Your insulator detail is amazing.  I would have drilled thru my fingers trying this.

"After the insulators have dried securely in place, add another brushing of future to keep them that way. This gives you a semi-rigid structure to work with."

        Thanks.

I will be breaking out my #73 bit for this kit.

When I finally get through with this (very soon) you'll hopefully want to go for it too since you already have one ready to go.

I don't normally do ships but I've really enjoyed working this one out ......it's something different for a change.

http://www.sherv.net/cm/emoticons/toilet/reading-on-toilet.gifAnd yes, I figured "Sub" assembly would be a fiting title for the way I wanted to present this. I'm glad you got a smile out of that.

You'll need a few track links from a Panzer III or IV if you want the same results and you'll have to work this out on a close up surface about 6 to 8 inches from your face to control it and will help prevent those tiny parts from escaping to the place where all little parts go....

                                                                            http://www.sherv.net/cm/emoticons/yellow-hd/mean-devil-smiley-emoticon.gif

Remember that the holes will have to be http://www.sherv.net/cm/emoticons/object/power-drill-smiley-emoticon-emoji.png ed large enough for the (twisted) twin polyester threads to go through. You'll have to "think ahead" and add the parts in the order that will be the final displayed result.

The drill I used was a size #61. That's .0390 or slightly under 1 mm.

It won't go away.

             WHAT?

I don't know where "this came from??"

https://i.imgur.com/d8auiDh.png

 So, here it is again.

Have a great day!

Somehow my anchor got stepped on..... crunch!
That's ok, I just made me a better one.
I've had several different ideas about the base and have pretty much decided on the one in the pic. I'm posing it in a stance that gives the impression of surfacing.
I hope to see you build one also.
Thank you for your reply.

Hey Bob,

Thank you for your advice. That's what I usually do but, well - read on.

 I've gotten over my hissy-fit.

When I first started this subject post, it came up with no way to edit it since the picture somehow covered the edit button which prevented me from deleting the picture so I could finish the post that was covered up by the picture blocking the edit button......confusing isn't it, never before in my twenty+ years here....

I did it over again and had to request Tim to delete the first one because everyone was going to it instead of the one I posted and was adding to....... yeah, still confusing.

And then to add more aggravation (a bit after) I had to retype one long entry all over again because Finescale logged me out.

My 37mm teleported into another dimension forcing me to scratch my own.

Then I was  getting a 504 Gateway Timeout....http://www.sherv.net/cm/emo/angry/desperate-rage-smiley-emoticon.gif

.......every time I tried to reply https://karopka.ru/upload/main/smiles/5/aaa.gif....  for three days.

Most times I do type stuff on a word doc but because of the pictures involved  I wasn't sure if I could get it to work.

So, I had all the pictures and wording complete and ready to go and just
as I moved to  Submit Your Reply
                           http://www.sherv.net/cm/emoticons/war/grenade.gif....... the page vanished.

The browser was still functioning but the page I was on went  somewhere?

Found out later that spectrum was having some issues at about that same time.

Well, now I hope you all can understand why I was so bent out of shape.
This thread seems to have been cursedhttp://www.sherv.net/cm/emoticons/sick/about-to-vomit.gif from the first letter in some odd manner.

I want to finish this up so I won't feel so pressured to get this posted and done.

 Ja, schließlich!
         Yes, finally!
Get on board  http://www.sherv.net/cm/emoticons/war/submarine.gif dive in.

This project was about 90% hand painted with various paints (as listed) on the first page.
I have it mounted in an upward angle suggesting surfacing. Heading home from a 6-7 month patrol.
The snorkel and various parts on the conn are easily movable but I forgot to take a picture of that.
I'm not sure that I like the emblem I placed on the base. :frantic:I might change it later.

Click on any pic for a larger view.

Here's another angle....Coming up for a view http://www.sherv.net/cm/emoticons/birds/bird-watching-smiley-emoticon.gif

And yes, there are two sides to this.

A view from above.

And another view from above: wink:
The 37mm will swivel around http://th717.photobucket.com/albums/ww173/prestonjjrtr/Smileys%20Holidays/Halloween/th_bf-piratebullet.gif
The coating on the deck and conn has been worn down to the wood.
https://i.imgur.com/fnBbut9.png

Below, it's basically underway. Instead of placing the kit decal on foil, I photoshopped the decal flag and printed it on the kind of paper used as packing for new shoes or dress shirts. Worked well and a bit of future held the shape nicely.
The flag pole is a piece of wire and is removeable.

Other side.
https://i.imgur.com/wRUnVCZ.png

Screening was added to the railings and radar. Lots of scratching here.
I did some serious weathering on the railings for the 6 months of surfacing/diving oxidation.

Algae deposits on the hullside..... (probably would have looked better with a gloss finish but...)

I made my own anchor after finding the original crunched beyond recognition. It even fit better.
Made my own attachments for the bowplane cables.
https://i.imgur.com/GxKaqrM.png

And here......... the original salt life.
https://i.imgur.com/K4L1r3Z.png

I've pictured it below in a manner to resemble an under water appearance.

Well it looks like I'm finally going to be able post this without all the aforesaid frustration.

The finished boat is a true work of art DM. Wish I could do 1/2 as well. Beer Beer Beer

Have 3 subs in the stash. Gonna have to move them up in the Q now. It will be a little while though as the Bluenose II is going to take up a lot of my time.

Stay safe.

The finished product certainly is magnificent.  A true work of craftmanship.  You've done her proud!

I will agree with you about giving it a gloss coating for a more "wet" appearance, but overall she's a beaut!

Thanks for your very positive comment.

I've been busy again and away from the forum getting thingshttp://www.sherv.net/cm/emo/christmas/smiley-taking-christmas-tree-emoticon.gif in line for Christmas.

I know you can do better than half as well and I'm sure the Bluenose will prove it.
I'm looking forward to seeing your take on a sub.

Thank you Gary. I really appreciate that.

Since the gloss coat would be easy I just said well, I could add that anytime but I'm happy with it as it is for now.

Between reading up on my next subject.......

.....and getting things organised for our Model club meeting here in North Carolina.
