Depends on which submarine.

But, brass was very seldom used for that size of a propellor, just too soft and not corrosion-resitant enough. 

Which is why many navies tested, or prefered various alloys, like Monel and the like.

I mistakenly figured PE for the prop.

They make them, but for scales where the flate brass PE makes a reasonable blade shape.

Now, as a point of order, the DKM U-Boote used a form of Monel metal, so the actual metall would be a steel plus aluminum color with a blue-greenish cast.  It's a unique look.

Monel is often used for small craft propellors as being less expensive to cast than silicone bronze.  It's also more economical on "strategic" metals use, too (which was a virtue in the eyes of DKM).

The resin cast 3d prints will be much easier to paint to the correct color than cast brass or PE.  At least for my 2¢

      I discovered if you take a P.E. Prop and assemble it, it's going to look just a P.E.prop.The way to change that is simple asnd easy if you want to take the time. One thing is you have to bend the blades slightly Before you do this. Then. Take the real fine  silver solder 60/40 and put a small piece on the blade. Big enough to go from the tip to the shaft . Then taking a small torch' heat just till it melts qnd runs where it's supposed to. After three or four blades, Clean and Viola'- A  nice looking prop. It has worked for me!

Thanks, I was reading about available accessories and being a returning modeler, I mistakenly figured PE for the prop. The suggested one is the best way to go.

I've made a better-lookin' than PE prop by first coating an injected prop with Molotow chrome marker then airbrushing overall Tamiya clear yellow. 

Many injected props have a better representation of the blade twist than a flat PE part. 

In service prop blades are not generally polished brass, they are bronze. My favorite paint color to use is Reaper Old Bronze acrylic
