Sub, In a pipe?
Posted by Tanker-Builder on Monday, February 12, 2024 11:56 AM

Hi Ya'll!

         Listen, I saw something that knocked my socks off. A Boomer! In a neighbor's house! It was easily Five foot long from the prop to the end of the nose. He got the idea from the old Brick Set that was put  out years ago by MegaBlocks. Not using anything from the Block set he took the idea and ran with it.

          Now he has this beautiful Boomer sitting in his office above his computers and stuff(He does some kind of Advice for Engineers) he told me that everything in it was pipes of different sizes and consoles from about six different Large Sub models and lots of Airplane stuff re-purposed.

          The number Six, Eight ,Ten and Twelve silos do launch missiles via spring power. There are buttons on the sub's bottom right under the tubes that almost cannot be seen. Led's light this beauty. he claims that 90% is mainly found household stuff and 10% model Sub stuff. I gotta say "Well done", he's even got the Anachoic tile pattern right!( Heavy construction Paper!)  I wish now I had invested in a ne Camera.But medical Expenses come first.That's why I don't have my Compressor of Bench sander anymore. Ce'st La Vie!

Sounds very cool TB. Reminded me of when I was a teen into my 20s; my group of buddies used to make models from all sorts of found items. They never came out as impressive as what you described, but we sure had a blast shooting them up with our BB guns and blowing them to pieces with fire crackers! Big Smile

Wish I'd kept some of the better ones.
I may have a photo or two laying about, if I find any I'll start a new thread.

JoeSMG;

         Yeah, he was missing a few piddly items, and in some places he had to much hardware. No way I was going to rain on his parade though. That had to take time and inventiveness. Besides I still have my large "U"Boat that's not finished.I have it done from the tip of the stern to the aft edge of the Conning Tower. It's a wee bit different because of the ballast tank layout. This too is found items .The Torpedoes in the Aft Torpedo room are "Bic" round "Stik: pens cut to length and modified for appearance!
