Airfix made a lot of kits in 1/76.

Edit: Scalemates says it's 1/72. Bob has good advice.

Try a couple of HO train gauge figures.  Scale is 1/87, but might look more appropriate in the "tight spaces" you have.  Plus, there are a gazillion different figures available.

If that doesn't work, check Shapeways.  They have an unlimited set of male and female (homme & femme) that can be printed in just about any scale.

More on the "Severn":

Yeah, I know, to much already. Sorry Guys and Ladies, this model is so much different for a small vessel, it has prompted these missives. I thought about crewing the Vessel and found a problem!

The Box and instructions say clearly, 1/72 scale. If that's the case, why wouldn't my 1/72 figures converted from aircrews (For aircraft models) even fit in the seats, even the ones without armrests!

The standing ones? fuggedaboud it! They would have to have their heads cut off. Now the photos indicate it was tight in there, But, I don't believe it was that tight. Sadly, without all that detail like some of the Planes we are presented with, I feel let down and Yes, disappointed.

If you choose to even look at one be advised, It will challenge your building skills immensley! Don't acquire it, Unless you value RNLI (A portion of each purchase goes to RNLI.) it's like Sixty Pence! remember this organisation has existed since the 1700s, they deserve the support. Airfix could do or have done better too!

A model such as this deserves good building and painting instructions. Because simply, It's an esoteric subject that deserves notice!
