SUB/MISSION - Type XXI ......update........finally, screwed again.
Posted by disastermaster on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 11:00 PM

 Hey everyone!

Been wanting to build this for over 25 years now.

https://i.imgur.com/MUMNH6S.png

I've been waiting to see if the Gateway doofup has moved out .....

before even starting this.

http://www.sherv.net/cm/emo/funny/1/perverted-smiley.gifEverything seems to be running just fine now.

While waiting around, I finally found a reasonably priced kit to replace the previous one that had the broken off tail section (the last inch or two) of the port stern, as shown in my last entry.

So....... on with the follow up to "Sub-Assembly".

                   http://www.sherv.net/cm/emoticons/war/submarine.gif

https://i.imgur.com/PtBz9li.png         Finally at last......

The first step is designing my own nameplate, so here is where it starts.

                             It's 12 AM

         More to come.............

Heading to the counter top later today

Very interesting, DM!  I look forward to your build.

An interesting side note: I found one of these in the local antique mall, but didn't buy it as I'm not a ship guy.  Guess I should have.  Big Smile

Well, I won't then (but it was $25, or about the cost of a McDonald's Big Mac).

No, this is not the 05078 kit.

This one is the 5081 full body version.

That's because I'm going to be working over the hull features.

Hope that doesn't disappoint you, : wink:but I think you'll like the end results

DM I feel the same way!

Look down the list of recent posts and it doesn't take long to get to"x days ago".

FM take note- this is a problem.

There's a great publication about the Type 21. Mine unfortunately got ruined in a rain storm, but I still have my model. I loved it.

The French had one that served in the Suez Crisis.

http://www.sherv.net/cm/emoticons/hello/little-cutie-says-hello-smiley-emoticon.gifHey Bill,

https://i.imgur.com/yoDua5t.png
Looking down the hatch (internet) I have found and saved hundreds or more http://th948.photobucket.com/albums/ad322/virtuedlegacy/Smileys/th_duck.gifdry pictures of the type XXI.

Now, on another note.

Well strangely, it looks like we're back on our feet.
or not.........but for how long next time?

While enduring the obvious 504 flip-flop problem,
I've Been slowly working on my submission project off and on.
Maybe tomorrow or next week http://i1160.photobucket.com/albums/q482/GlamGolden/Silly%20Smileys/writing1-smiley.gifI'll update this......
but only time (504) will tell.

So when I click this entry Doh emoticon (Hand gesture emoticons) will a 504 timeout pop up and obliterate this message (as it has previously done a dozen times or more).

Have a good day and may you have many, many happy 504's.
As for today, I'm headed back to the gym.

(I HATE THIS DAMN SITE, I'VE HAD TO POST THIS TWICE and I got the same stupid results)

                            No Pictures

Started back on this last night from Thursday, August 1, 2024 11:47 PM

Went over the hull parts adding some more dents and dings, then some make shift ballast to help keep the project from rolling around and on an even keel.

Fitment check using rubber bands..........

Next check, it's all held in place using my $.99 modified turkey baster, some small pieces of dense foam and filled with fine sized #9 bird shot ballast. It's all secured with some zip ties (securely attached) to the port side. It's a perfect fit.

                                              2 more close ups

Forgot to mention.

The pieces of sprue you see were added to upper and lower hull areas for a better fit.

Mainly, it helps to give a more stable connection with/to the main deck.

Below, both sides placed together complete with added torpedo tubes and ballast.....

The one on the left is my ploy to actually eject a metal fish.

If the forum starts having hot flashes again, I'll just check in from time to time with another update.
