This past weekend the honey and I took a leisurely bicycle ride down to the Tempozan bay area here in Osaka, and were quite surprised to find six Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force ships tying up to the docks!
Luckily, I had my digital camera with me.
Talking to the fellas revealed that this event takes place once every five years, where 3000 people apply to take cruises around Awaji Island on the JMSDF ships. My tax yen at work!! Good PR, for sure.
I hope these aren't too many pix:
ASR-403 Chihaya, ATS-4203 Tenryu
DD-151 Asagiri, DD-129 Yamayuki
DDH-142 Hiei
DD-129 Yamayuki
JMSDF tugboat
CIWS Phalanx system on the Asagiri
Forward five-inch guns on the Hiei
I hope these pix come in handy for you JMSDF modelers out there (hello? Anybody??).
Are there even kits available of these ships? Might be time for ol' J-Hulk to build a ship or two!
