gluing technique
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, June 30, 2004 10:50 PM
I've never been much of a shipbuilder, but I couldn't resist the 1/72 U-boat. Now I'm face with a challenge: gluing the huge hull halves together. what is the best method and the best type of adhesive to use? I have 3 types of glue on hand: Tamiya liquid cement, Testors tube glue, and Gap-filling superglue.
The same question goes for the deck sections.

Thanks in advance for all the advice!!

Go with the Tamiya thin liquid cement. You can use a 00 or 000 paintbrush to apply the cement from the inside.A section at a time and rubber bands to hold it all together. The same for the deck sections, running the cement by capillary action along the seam. Be aware that you will need to thin the torpedo tube sections in the bow. They are too wide and do not allow the bow sides to join together cleanly.
