Sharkboat ORCA

Are there any kits, past or present, of Quint's ship from the movie JAWS? I mean, either a dedicated kit or a generic kit of that type of ship. Is it a lobster boat? Looks a little like one.

The Orca appeared in RC Boat Modeler Magazine last year.
They still sell plans for the boat thru their website.
Pat Tritle does a great job of creating plan sets for boats seen only on tv or movies.

Enjoy ;)

That's a "no!"

So it's a scratchbuild project only? Thanks for the info. Scratching up an entire ship is a little too ambitious for me. Too many AFVs to build. Smile [:)]

Well I would check with RC Boat Modeler Magazine or Pat, and ask whether a kit is available.
I have heard Pat discuss laser cutting parts. However, I am not sure if
those are laser cut parts for his plans and kits, or other companies.

Larry , a company by the name of McFARLANE TOYS made a dio. of the ORCA with Capt. Quint and Bruce ( what the filmcrew named "the shark" ) . Rather gruesome . Appears to be around 1/25th scale . I haven't removed mine from the box yet , but it looks good .

There are a few on eBay right now , or check the comicbook store that handle action figures also . Good luck !

I'm not oversure but I think that there was an article in FSM a year or so ago about building ORCA.
As I say I think it was FSM but searching through the index should give you the answer.

Howdy,

New to the forums here but an old time FS subscriber. This was before the net of course.Wink [;)]

In any case, the Trittle plans are not bad and have great R/C applications, but if you're looking for TRUE accuracy (Unlike the extremely innacurate MF diorama) we'll be releasing plans before to long based on years of research into this vessel and having interviewed those that built it during the production way back when. Here's a recent mini we created built by Jesse Thompson:
