Testors Easy Builder ships -- really easy?
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, July 6, 2004 3:09 PM
I know that Testors has repackaged the old Hawk kits, and have labelled them "easy builder." How easy are they, really? I'd like to get one for my son to build. He's seven, and he wants to build models like his dad. What's the prognosis? are the kit's pieces on a tiny sprue? Are they loose and ready to be glued?

Nice idea. These kits are really simple, all right. The one reservation you might want to consider is that they're also mighty small. Little fingers sometimes have trouble handling little parts. (But then, so do big fingers.) My guess is that, with his dad to help him, your son will be able to turn out a model from any of those kits in about an hour - at the most. Good luck!

Youth, talent, hard work, and enthusiasm are no match for old age and treachery.

Try the PT boat. Even the small parts are pretty good size and there are not that many parts. Builds up about 5 inches long which makes it 1/187th scale.
