I'm just starting my tamiya 1/350 fletcher with photoetch. It's my first time too. I've decided to put on all photoetch besides railings and spray paint the whole ship with a primer. Then I will paint the decks and camouflage and everything. Then I will spray the railings with grey and put them on as the last step.
To put them on I use a blunt nose cross action set of tweezers. I grab the railing with the tweezers and put the tweezers on the table. Then I use a toothpick and apply the glue in a very small droplet on the edge of the model. Then I attach them. I don't know about ZAP CA glue but I use our hobby shop no-name brand. Our hobby shop is Maplewood hobby. And I use maplewood hobby insta-cure Ca glue. I was reluctant at first to try it when the cleric recomended it. It works great. For some reason I can't smell any fumes and after working for an hour I felt no side effects.
