Well JCB3,I would use MM netural gray and also a med.gray for camo effect. If you can go to a book store or libaray you can look up several paint schemes the Germans did to there u-boats.Some where painted with red bottoms with the black stripe with a gray top-MM med.gull gray comes close to it.Others where around gray-MM netural gray with med.stripes for camo. Then others where just plain gray, once again MM netural gray comes close to it.Digger

Thanks Digger. I noticed the weathering (rust) was done to most of the u-boats what color are they using. I read on some of the posts that Tamiya had the best color for rust? Thanks John

John,MM makes a rust color in there paints, but from what I have reid must use pastels for weathering. You can get this at any hobby store that sells oil paints for canvas. They come in pencil shape or in sticks, just use a knife and scrap into a bowl.Take scrapings and apply with brush. This ought to help you out, also when you look for pastels get a range of colors in the brown and amber to the black and grays. They will help you out in shading, rusting, panel lines and drit effects.Digger

Thanks Digger. I always used my airbrush for the weathering but sometimes the results were not to my liking. I thought about using pastels a few times but this time I will get them and use them. Thanks for the help. John

Wander over to the Squadron web site and take a look under publications - They've go a couple of good books (profiles) on U-boats.
