Since I can't find any photos of Brunei harbor...here's my roughed out diagram of the diorama I'm working on...in all the photos I have of the IJN, it seems their ships were always perfectly parallel when anchored, but in my opinion, it makes it look too artifical, so I've added some angles in. I've also taken into consideration 'maneuver room of the ships, in other words, could they have gotten into that position with the other vessels in the dio...I may actually angle all the ships more to offset the landform angle, not sure yet.
Based on the final measurements of the dio, these ships might be spaced out a little farther if there's room. Let me know what ya'all think.
As a background, most of the remaining Japanese fleet arrived at Brunei, Borneo between October 18th and 21st, in preparation for Operation Sho-I-Go. In this fleet were Yamato and Musashi, Nagato, Kongo, Haruna, Yamashiro and Fuso, the cruisers, Mogami, Chikuma, Takao, Atago, Maya, Chokai, Myoko, Haguro, Kumano, Suyuza, Tone, Chikuma, Noshiro, Yahagi, and 15 destroyers (that I've confirmed). Doing the entire Bay would take a room in my house, and cost a fortune...so I've gone with what I have in the collection...it's also impossible (unless October 21, 1944 aerial photos exist) to know who was anchored next to whom, so in that regard I'm using some license.
