I have the Preiser set in use on a model. You can make them out in some of the photos on this page of my website:

I also did a review of the L'Arsenal figures on Modelwarships.com:

Thanks to all who responded. I'll check out L'Arsenal figures. By the way, Preiser has a set of painted 1:350 "merchant seamen"; six figures in the box. Item #89350.

I have both a PE set and a L'Arsenal set I got through WEM. Pay the extra and get the resin L'Arsenal figs, they are worth it. The PE ones are just too much work and still look like little gingerbread men then done.

IIRC Eduard issued ( or is about to issue) a set of pre-paited 1/350 figures

Actually, L'Arsenal does resin cast 3d figures in 1/350 scale. Incredible stuff.

Available through L'Arsenal, White Ensign, etc. etc.

I don't think so, but at that scale PE-figures are very effective since become "dimensional" by thickness of the paint.

I noticed in the current issue article on the USS Hornet that there were "200 crewmen". Other than "bulking" up photoetch figures, are there full-round figures available somewhere?
