Just got mine - pre-order from e-hobbyland (at $139 from their FSM ad last month).

I have a small quibble and a question - please see my recent post in this forum - but it sure looks like a super kit.

I got my Nimitz a couple days ago. It looks excellent except the only real thing I can see is the aircraft tie downs look a bit to large, on the hangar deck, and the aircraft panel lines a little thick. Anyone else agree on this?

Yes...have one and just finished putting the finishing touches to it...only one problem as far as I can see....plenty of aircraft and several peices of equipment but no people...Wiith a ship built to house over 5000 people you would think they would give us a few to have on the flight deck... My son currently is serving on the USS HARRY S. TRUMAN CVN75 so mine is ecked out displying the markings of #75....any suggestions as to what I might use for deck hands???

and actually the best thing about Trumpeter over Tamiya is the details on Trumpeters kits including complete hangar decks for example.

On the workbench: Dragon 1/350 scale Ticonderoga class USS BunkerHill 1/720 scale Italeri USS Harry S. Truman 1/72 scale Encore Yak-6

The 71st Tactical Fighter Squadron the only Squadron to get an Air to Air kill and an Air to Ground kill in the same week with only a F-15 http://photobucket.com/albums/v332/Mikeym_us/

I want to build my Enterprise first. Besides, I'm going to wait and see if they produce later versions of the Nimitz class, USS Reagan in particular. And of course I'm worried about space...

There's a LOT of positive commentary on the Nimitz kit over on the Steelnavy and Modelwarships.com forums. There are reviews as well and this looks to be a real top-shelf kit.

Time to make out my Christmas list. . .

This is a brand new kit. Just released last Monday. Hasn't been out long enough to be Kit of the Year. The one your thinking of is the USS Hornet.

Yes, I seen 2 today at the IPMS Kalamazoo meet. Great looking models, Beautiful decks with recessed padeye's, no raised lines. And what appears to be the finest quality. If I would have had the money I would have bought one right away.

I know I saw the 1/350 Enterprise at Hobby Lobby for about 80 dollars last weekend, they had a Nimitz I believe but not sure what the price was... they get these big kits and can't sell em so drop the price, this weekend I am going for the Hobby Craft 1/24 Spitfire, originally 136 dollars, on sale for 40... complete with resin and PE from what I understand... gotta love wanna be HS's....

I think I am going to build my Enterprise before moving on to the Nimitz. I paid about $75 on an auction side. Methinks you will see the prices of these things drop.

I saw it at the LHS and it is sweet! I'm waiting for mine to come as I pre-ordered it from Squadron. The only bad thing was that I paid $179.00 and it was $149.00 at the LHS! Oh well...next time I will check there first.

I'll probably get one once it's available in Thailand to complement my Tamiya's Enterprise 1:350. But I'm worried about the price, if it's $180 like in the US I'm afraid that's way too high. ;)

No, but I'm very tempted because I was holding the little airplane kits for it. And those little kits looked so much fun to build...

Maybe next month or so.

Have Any of you been big and brave and gone out and bought the newly released 1:350 USS Nimitz model by Trumpeter?

If so what do you think of the detail.
I have a concern about the detail on the flight deck.
Is the landing strip detail raised like on the 1:700 model or is it flat like on the Tamiya USS Enterprise model.

What is your Honest opinion of the overall quality.

Any info would great.

Kind regards,

Beau.
