Apocalypse Now
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, January 5, 2003 8:26 PM
How cool would it be for an Apocalypse Now shadow box of the Du Lung bridge with the pt boat in fore ground, bridge in backround. Anyone know where i can get the pt boat (and if your good at knowing this, how bout all of the details such as decals, which i will probably paint on, figures, dog, PE parts and a good insulator ans bulbs to simulate gunfire explosions and lighting.) The PT boat must be 1/ 35 scale and the figures 1/35. i will probably convert some railroad guys for a backround and scrathbuild a bridge from balsa. I saw a good PT boat by tamiya and verlinden. Im not good with resin, and well detailing. any tips etc on this is greatly aprecitated. i got most of my research from the movie, like markings. Ive seen Full Metal Jacket vignettes so i asume there must be an Apocalypse Now thing since the movie is, well, godly. Maybe ill make a diorama of a pt boat being dropped by a huey........so many choices. You can decide for me, i dont have much will power.....................kidding. Thanks.

Tamiya makes a Mk II PBR boat in 1/35 scale. It is the same boat as in the movie. I made mine into the boat near the end of the movie when they reach COL Kurtz's (your) lair at the temple. Here is the Tamiya PBR. http://www.greatmodels.com/cgi/display.cgi?item_num=tam35150

Yeha, I just watched the movie again and caught teh technical aspect that it is a PBR Boar (PBR Streetgang, duh!) Also, your the first person to make the connection between my name and the movie, finally. I would ove to see how you made your boat. I keep watching the Do Lung Bridge, to see every part. I'll make the part right when they get at teh mouth. I alread planned for bnackround figures, little sihouetted VC (probably not visible unless I point them out), Lance's Face Camo, thatch repaired roof, etc. I am going to get into this project. Ill finish my other things while I research this topic more. Any tips on scratchbuilding and resin casting is appreciated as I don't know how to. Thanks a whole lot Heavy Arty.

I need to know where I can find the lights for it. I need small ones the size of bead or smaller. Where are there Vietnam figures that arent resin from Verlinden. I need plastic ones. Ywo black guys, 3 white guys, and an assortment of everyone (about 13, 14) and luggage.
