Color schemes for WW2 fletcher class
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, October 17, 2004 6:52 PM
My first attempt at a plastic war ship. I just don't know what colors I should be using. Anyone know what colors I should be using for the decks and superstructures. Any photos of that class of ship? Looking to see how to handle the details. Thanks for any help.

Ok, a few questions...

Which Fletcher?? Tamiya 350th? If that's the case, then she's wearing Measure 12R which consisted of the following colors:

Haze Gray 5-H FS 35237
Ocean Gray 5-O FS 35164
Navy Blue 5-N FS 35044
Deck Blue 20-B FS 35042
Dull Black BK FS 37040

Decks are painted 20-B, as are all other horizontal surfaces. Measure 12R is a dapple pattern which is non-standard, the pattern is determined by which ship you choose.

For photos and details, go here: http://www.domeisland.com/fletcherclass/

Or, you can purchase my book: Warship Perspectives, Fletcher, Gearing and Sumner Class Destroyers in WW2, available from White Ensign, Pacific Front, Floating Drydock, etc..
