Chris,

That's awesome. You're right about the captain's quarters and sickbay. Overall, though, I'm impressed that a visitor can see the whole ship, all of the decks, in a visit. I got some great photos this past July when my wife and I went down to see the tall ships the weekend of the 4th.

I just switch ISPs to I need to get my personal web space set up again. After that, I can post some photos.

Having said all of that, it'd be great if there were a nice, accurate kit, of the Constellation...

Regards,

-Drew

I grew up around ships. My father was career Navy, as am I. My uncle runs two sailing ships out of St. Lucia and Jamacia under contract with Sandels Resorts. One of those half/whole or overnight sailing trips you can take when you stay within a Sandels Resort. One is a two mast, the larger is a three mast. Ever since I was old enough (in my mothers eyes) I would spend summers working these ships. She would worry but her father was a merchant sailing from Cork who first went to sea at 12 years old. I guess the love of the sea & sail is in my blood. I volunteer with the Connie whenever possible. Cleaning the decks, coating lines, etc. She still needs a bit of work but it's coming along. The Capts Quarters and sickbay look great.
When I get a chance, I'll post some general photo's of the ship in port.

Chris,

What's your connection with the Constellation? My wife and I bought tickets to the New Years Eve bash. :)

We don't live too far from Baltimore, so we've toured the ship twice in the last two years. It's realy neat to see the progress being made on her restoration.

Regards,

-Drew

Hey everyone. Just wanted to let you sailing buffs know that the Constellation is out of Baltiomore Harbor for the first time since the 50's. To help celebrate to 150th anniversary of the ship she's been moved to the Naval Academy for the Home Coming weekend. She held up well with no leaks to report. The trip took about 8 hours. We had to lower the pigstick about 5' to clear the bridge into Annapolis. Would have been nice to fly some sail but two tugs had to do the trick. The Washington Post had a nice write up in Wednesday's paper.
