Ok guys, those of you who have built this monster of a kit, I have question of you. While I am at least five to ten years away from even trying this kit, I was wondering if any of you have built her with her original island, with what I call the "upside down styrafoam coffee cup?" I like the original island a little better, If you have, please email me some photos. jimz66@earthlink.net

I liked that island too! It had the "domed" top to it. I think it's because I build the old Aurora Enterprise when I was a kid, and that kit had the original island, too.
I wonder if anybody makes that as an aftermarket item to backdate the Tamiya kit?

The Beehive came on the 1/400 Revell kit, but not on the Tamiya. I remember seeing someone who backdated this kit and used, IIRC, the top from a can of women's shaving cream, which happened to be the perfect shape and size...

Hey, improvise, adapt, and overcome, right?
