Trumpeter Nimitz question
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, November 14, 2004 11:01 AM
I'm just starting my Trumpeter Nimitz. Starboard side, aft, there are two small boxes mounted under the sheer on the upper hull. The instructions are unclear as to their function/orientation. My guess as to their function is that they are lookout stations, so I mounted them with their open sides up (so a person could stand in them). Does anyone have any other guesses as to their function/orientation? If I guessed wrong, I suppose I could coat the open top with KrystalKleer and paint them over!

I have no clue maybe if you posted a pic of the parts your talking about and the page in the instructions that show those 2 boxes.

Thanks for the reply!

P. 3, part D15 (two of them). They're just little rectangular boxes, 5 sides closed, one long side open, about ΒΌ" long. They mount in two slots just forward of the aftermost starboard hangar deck door on either side of a hull opening. Going thru the instructions, nothing seems to mount on them.

Any help appreiated. BTW, does Clancy's Carrier book cover Nimitz?
