Glad to be of help! This is fascinating stuff - with all sorts of great, unusual modeling possibilities.

I agree with Jeff - particularly in regard to the uncertaintly about the Marrimack/Virginia.

We've discussed this subject in some detail three times over the past few months in this forum. I've moved those threads near the top of the list; they should be just below this one now. They're labeled "Verlinden U.S.S. Monitor," "American Civil War Ironclad Colors," and "Verlinen USS Monitor and CSS Virginia Kits."

Hope some of this is of interest. I think I'm familiar with the kits you mean; I've built a couple of them. They're remarkably well detailed for their size, and, from what I can tell, quite accurate. Good luck. They aren't the prettiest ships in the world, but there's no denying their historical importance.

Most experts agree that Monitor was black...Virginia is another story...I would recommend a dark gray, Panzer Gray would probably work quite well. Another favorite color of the Confederacy was 'Blockade Runner Gray' which, from what I can gather, is similar to USN WW2 Blue Gray.
