Allen M. Sumner Class Destroyers

It took me 18 months to build the ISW/TMW Sumner (pic attached). Granted - I didn't get a full kit. I was only able to get the hull, stacks, superstructure and some assorted other parts. I had to acquire everything else, like the turrets, directors, AA guns and photo-etch, so that added time to the building period. Even if you can get one, I agree with Jeff - go for the YMW Sumner. They are an outstanding company. Their kits are available directly at www.yankeemodelworks.com or from vendors like Pacific Front Hobbies.

A member of our ship model club brought in one that he'd built from the Iron Shipwright resin kit. It looked beautiful. That scale is a nice one for destroyers - big enough for lots of detail, small enough to be carried in one hand.

That's the only one you'll find in 1/350...although you *might* still be able to find the Iron Shipwrights or Tom's Modelworks kits out there once in awhile.

Go with YMW, solid company with a great product.
