Jim,

The Arii kit is an older kit that's been around for years, but is about equal in quality to the larger Nichimo kit. That being said, it's really not that much smaller than the Nichimo kit...if you want something more managable, then the Tamiya 350th kit is probably your best bet.

The only downsides to this kit are the lack of photoetch for it, as well as the single opening in the hull for a large center screw, instead of the 4 she carried. If you waterline it, that's one solution. The other is to fill, drill, and find some screws and skegs that fit her.

Good luck.

Arii Yamato????

Is it true that Arii has re-issued the huge Nichimo kit of the Yamato in a slightly smaller scale of 1/250th?
I built the Nichimo about 10 years ago but had to leave it behind when marriage broke up.Just no-where to keep it. A smaller more manageable version would be nice to tackle again.I think 250th would make it about 40 inches or so?
I well remember having to travel to heathrow airport and sit in the customs shed for 2 hours filling out forms before I could collect the Nichimo version and then trying to fit it in the car!!!
My then wife bought it for me as a birthday present after I saw it advertised for quite a few months in FSM.It could be even longer than 10 years ago but I remember the advert was at the bottom of the page on its own offering a special price which I cannot remember now.
Oh the good old days, before the brain cells starting dying and glasses became compulsory.
I remember the motors where not included but had to be bought seperately so when I wrote to Nichimo they sent them to me for nothing!!They were BIG motors!
Thanks
Jim..
