Kits for ultra-modern stealth warships
Posted by djrost_2000 on Sunday, January 9, 2005 8:13 PM
Just watching History channel tonight and my eyes popped at the sight of some of the ultra-modern stealth warships being made worldwide. I think there was a kit of the U.S. experimental Sea Shadow. Are there any kits of the vessels being made by foreign countries as well? Some of the Scandinavian countries and Germany are making semi-conventional looking ships that are stealthy and ultra-modern.

I don't know of many Stealth warship kits that are out. I know JAG makes a 1/700 resin Stealth aircraft carrier, and I'm pretty sure there is a kit of the stealthy French Lafeyette frigate out but I don't remember who the manufacturer is. If I wanted a stealth warship of my own then I would have to scratchbuild it......which is exactly what I did for the following.

Enjoy! Big Smile [:D]

The Stealth warships are already here somewhat. The Arleigh Burke class USN Destroyers have had even more modifications to make them have even weaker radar signatures. Dragon's 1/700 USS Mustin kit has many of the features.Smile [:)] The French Lafayette class is availible in resin.Big Smile [:D] The model making companies are waiting for the new generation of ships appear before the kits are made. The Arsenal ship was modeled and then canceled. Evil [}:)] The USN's new DD(X) class will be floating out of the drydock by 2008. Smile [:)]

EDIT:

I forgot, Revel issued a kit of the Sea Shadow back in the late 80's when it first appeared. The Sea Shadow (IX-529), was delivered to the Navy March 1, 1985. Went into reserve and was recomissioned on March 31, 2000 for the DD(X) program.

EDIT2:
