Their is a book out just about the Iowa's. I belieave that ths books title is Iowa class battel ships, but I'm not total sure. My copy is still packed in moveing boxes. I gives great photos of everything. It starts in the dock yard all the way to their refit in the 80's. hope this helps a little. If I get a change to unpack that box I'll get the correct title for you.

Try the book Iowa Class Battleships, by Robert Sumrall. It's got lots of photographs of all four ships at various points in their careers, and some good drawings as well.

Youth, talent, hard work, and enthusiasm are no match for old age and treachery.

There's a slew of books on the Iowas that can be helpful...here's a quick list off the top of my head:

Iowa Class Battleships by Bob Sumerall (as noted by Dr. Tilley Big Smile [:D] )
Battleship New Jersey by Paul Stillwell
Battleship Missouri by Paul Stillwell
Fast Battleships by Dulin and Garsky
US Battleships - An Illustrated Design History by Norman Friedman
USS Missouri Class Planbook by Floating Drydock
Squadron Signal's Battleships in Action Pt.2

Any of these will have enough photos to help you out. Local libraries can usually get the first five titles in the list I provided.

Hope that helps,

Jeff

There is also the Classic Warships pictorial on the New Jersey. It's supposed to be out of print, but you may be able to pick one up. Lots of great pictures on the NJ from 1943 through her decommissioning.
