Yamato plans?
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, June 3, 2003 4:25 PM
Hi there,
I'm rebuilding a very old 1/200 scale kit of the Yamato ( IJN ) but do not have the kit instructions or any other reference. I have to scratchbuild a lot of missing/broken parts and need all the information I can get. Is there anybody out there?

Floating drydock typically carries only American ships

, but if you know about a web page that I am missing please post a link.

This place is said to have excellent IJN plans.

I'd check it out. I just bought a copy of this book for my own Yamato project for $34.10 (including shipping), $20 below what it would have cost me to order the book from my local Border's.

The Skulski book is excellent, and the Gakken books on the Yamato are quite good as well.

There's a couple of websites that can be of help, www.modelwarships.com has a couple of models in various scales built by some well-known ship modelers that will be happy to assist you. www.j-aircraft.com has a forum dedicated to IJN warships that's also top notch.

If you're looking for a copy of the instructions, let me know, I'm in the middle of planking the deck of my 1/200 Yamato as we speak. I'd also recommend getting the Gold Medal Models brass set for it. It's a must have.

Thanks for all the help.
Jeff, I would really appreciate it if you can supply me with a copy of the instructions. Please let me know through the forum or e-mail me at tappie@lantic.net.
Thanks.
