The shafts are the original kit plastic painted gold and overcoated with Dullcoat. The props however are from the GMM PE set. The props were a little tricky. You have to remove or scratchbuild the propeller hubs to hold the props on the shafts.

I visit Modelwarships frequently to view the gallerys and drop in on the message board.

Great looking build - I'm working on the same one myself. I can only hope my turns out as good. And I like what you did with the propeller shafts. What diameter brass rod did you use?

Here's a little something to look over. Finished her late Jan. 05. I finally figured out how to post pics here. Hope you enjoy her.

The kit is 1/350 scale by Dragon.

PE is the GMM Ticonderoga/Spruance Class. Used the rails, SPS-49 Radar and several of their ladders. The PE was painted prior to installation.

I thinned the original kit supplied SPS-48 radar with sanding sticks and carved out , for relief and detail, the rear supports of the SPS-48 radar with an Exacto No. 11 knife. And yes I do still have all my fingers.

Paint is all Modelmaster Enamel. Everything is airbrushed except the warheads on the missiles and the bridge windows. Needless to say, I went through quite a bit of Tamiya masking tape.

Many thanks to everyone here who have offered advise on painting and ship modeling in general. Even at 50+ years old, I'm still learnin'.

Now on to a display base or "at sea" display?
