Revellogram 1/350 Mighty Mo

Howdy. This is my first ship modle, made of plastic, sweat, blood, tears, paint and superglue. I was thinking of making it into the new and improved USS New Jersy(BB-62), another Iowa. What do i need to do to the decks, guns, and supper structure? are there version kits?
thanx

I agree,

Easier and more cost effective to start with a new kit...Tamiya's for under $60 will keep
you busy and reward you with a great finished model.

I'm a little skeptical about the details on the Revell kits anyway...

This might be a bit off-topic, but I was wondering if anyone here has tried to built a real "upgrade" of an Iowa class.
You see, I just got Norman Friedman's book about U.S. Battleships yesterday, and it has a large section about this. For example, the official intent was to make the Iowa sisters into Amphibious support ships. The aft turrt would be completely scrapped, as well as various side (AA/5-inch) turrets. They would have to make place for a large flightdeck and a hangar below. Aircraft complement would be up to 32 (THIRTY-TWO!!!) CH-46 helo's. Apart from this, the ship wold also accommodate about 12 LCM's. This all to support a troop complement of about 1,600-1,800 troops apart from the regular ships crew.
Unfortunately Friedman's book only has a side view sketch of the design, but it still looks impressive!!!
BTW, how is Tamiya's model? Is it for beginners, or should you be a little more experienced? I have always dreamt of doing an Iowa class battleship (the modern version), but have't got the nerve to do so....

Dont know aboput all that, but i know all the quad 40 mm guns and tubs , small single guns and tubs, and 6 of the 5 in turrets were removed. catipults and crains were removed and replaced with a helipad. Several chaf dispensors, 2 harpon launchers, 4 phalanx gatling guns, 4 tomahawk lanchers, and a foward antena were instaled in the '69 and '90 Retrofit. OT: YAY 20 Posts!!!!!!!!!

The Tamiya modernised New Jersey is relatively easy to build and is very accurate, Gold Medal Models also do an etched set to enhance it and turn it it into a masterpiece if you choose to go even further! It was originally proposed to refit the 'Iowas' at a later date to the spec mentioned, effectively turning them into 'Battleship carriers' - strangely similar to the Japanese conversions during WW11 except with helicopters instead! The proposals were put forward to try and bolster and justify the refit and return of the four battleships to the active fleet, once recommisssioned it was decided to form additional battlegroups based around a battleship rather than a carrier and the refit plans were scrapped on the 'basis' of cost.
