Thanks for the help. But, we've talked it over and he's decided to build a new model. Personnally I'd rather repair the old one, as it's museum quality. Leaving stuff off would not be an option, as it's an "as built" model.
We'll probably go with a "bashed" Lionfish, with a new deck, and, Nautilus and HR parts. Or really "Bash" it and do a Guppy version, which eliminates the guns and much of the deck hardware.

You may be able to leave the screw guards off. They were removed from many if not all of the Boats at one time or another, The masts are an easy scratch build.

Hi Mike,

The 20mm Oerlikons are available in 1/400 from L'Arsenal; we stock them. You're going to have to scratchbuild the 5"/25 and the rest though.

Cheers,

Repair of 1:400 Tench Class US Submarine

I've got a buddy, with a model of the last sub he commanded. Naturally, over the years it's gotten a little banged up.
I'd like to help him repair it, but we'll need parts.
It's a pre-Guppy Tench. We need two 20mm singles, one 5"/25 deck gun, the periscopes, radar and shears, and a screw guard.
Does anyone know if these are available, in 1:400, and, if so, where?
Thanks, in advance, for any help.
Mike K.
