Over here in Europe there are also two kits in 1:350 on the market. The iowa in 1980's fit and the Missouri in fits from '44 to 58 (?). Available in regular stores and they go for about 40-50 Euro's, both from Revell

That ~1/570 kit was one of the first plastic kits released by Revell in about 1952.

There are two Revell Iowa class BB kits. The first one is a large 1/570 kit that is semi-waterline. The second is a 1/720 kit that was issued as the WW2 version of the Iowa and later modified to the 1980s version. The 1/720 kits float around and can be found ocassionally at model shops and some web stores. EBAY may be your best bet on finding one quickly. Aftermarket parts may be availible for this kit but you will have to go to a specialized dealer such as www.pacificfront.com www.tridenthobbies.com or www.modelshipbuilding.com .

Chasing the ultimate build.

Revell Germany has both the WW2 version and the modernized version listed on their web site. Big Smile [:D] Check some of the mail order shops that carry imported kits.

I believe these were originally Otaki molds which were most recently issued by Revell Germany.

Does anyone know what happened to the Revell Iowa class molds from around 1988 or 1989. They issued the WWII version and the modernized 1980's version. I acquired one of each way back when and some of the parts are missing. Also were they original Revell molds or were they just packaged as Revell? I know the Tamiya BB's are better but these are keepsakes ( wife actually bought one for Xmas).

Thanks,

Elliott
