Falklands Era Hermes or Indian Navy Viraat Anyone?

The 'itty bitty' model is well worth searching for!

I may have to look for the itty-bitty version, and just have TWO dioramas. Darn! More models to buy and build. Life can be a challenge.....

The only model I've ever come across of the Hermes was a small white metal model about 4-5 inches long by Skywave or Skytrex, I'm not sure who, it was produced with other models of RN Ships including a number of vessels - type 42's, 21's, 22's and HMS Plymouth, it depicts Hermes at the time of the Falklands and includes Sea Harriers. I built the model which is impressive for its size and put it on a sea base with a couple of escorts during the Falklands Campaign, someone must have this model unbuilt somewhere.

I checked www.squadron.com

They have HMS Invincible, Illustrious, Victorious, and carrier HMS Eagle
all in 1/700 made by various manufacturers...

I went looking and couldn't find any mention of a Hermes model anywhere on the net.

if you check the fulimi catalogue, they did some 1-700 modern british carriers and i think one of them was the hermes. i know they did a version of the ark royal and the victorious from the 1960 or 70 era. i hope this will help you in your quest.

try skytrex they might have something The only kit of an RN carrier you might get is airfix 1/600 hms Victorious very rare I've bought 2 on Ebay at $60.00 a pop. Hermes was orginaly a Centar Class carrier laid down after the war and built to a new design with angled deck and the orginal 3-D radar she was comissitioned in to the RN in1959

I want a Viraat, but would be willing to convert from a Hermes! lol. coincidence, huh?

Sorry, as far as I can tell there is no kit in plastic. I'll check for resin, but I'll have to research the history of HMS Hermes and see what class it was originally a member of.
