Sorry for this rambling, but I just can't stand this....
I think I know what kind of misstake Revell made on the V-22's. They took the wrong craft. Instead of modelling the V-22, they did the XV-15.... This or the Revell variant is in scale 1/1050th....
Dimensions: V-22
Length: 17,47 meters => 2,5 cm in 1/700th
Span (rotors turning): 25,78 meters => 3,7 cm in 1/700th
Height (nacelles up): 6,73 meters => 0,95 cm in 1/700th
Rotor diameter: 11,60 meters => 1,65 cm in 1/700th
Dimensions XV-15:
Length: 12,8 meters => 1,8 cm in 1/700th
Span (rotors turning): 17,4 meters => 2,5 cm in 1/700th
Height (Nacelles up): 3,9 meters => 0,6 cm in 1/700th
Rotor diameter: 7,60 meters => 1,1 cm in 1/700th
Dimensions Revell 1/700th "V-22"
Length: 1,8 cm
Span (rotors turning): 2,6 cm
Height (Nacelles up): 0,7 cm
Rotor diameter: 1,1 cm
So, there you go. Without knowing it, everybody who owns a Revell/Monogram Wasp class LHD also has three Bell XV-15 tiltrotors....
Know, I don't really mind this, the XV-15 is a cool plane, but don't advertise it as a V-22 Osprey. Besides, the XV-15 has only been used for landing tests on Naval ships. It was a testbed, not an active replacement aircraft....
Oh well... Soon I'll have the JAG Collective Stealth Aircraft Carrier. This one does have some V-22's in scale 1/700th.
