need help on hornet
Posted by nsclcctl on Monday, March 28, 2005 8:07 AM
I am stuck on the portion of the Hornet from Trumpeter located on the Island. It is the radar platform held in place by three poles. No matter what I do, they are crooked and look horrible. I have tried to get replacement but Trumpeter does not respond. Help, Help and help again. I want to finish this build.

You can replace the tripod mast with brass or aluminum rod. The key to alignment is to determine the distance between mounting points on the deck. If the distance between the poles is the same (equilateral triangle), then all three mast lengths should be the same. If two of the three distances are the same, isosceles, then the two congruent lengths will be shorter than the individual length. This applies only if the mast has no rake.

home depot or a hardware store would probably have the small metal rods you could use..they would be alot sturdier as well compared to the plastic.
