LA Class Sub???

Arii 1/700 USS Boston - very hard to find
Dragon 1/700 has a few bundles of subs in packed boxes IIRC the 1/700 USS Dallas comes with a 1/700 Typhoon and a couple of 1/700 ASW aircraft. Was rereleased last year.

Did they buy those molds from Testors? If so, I had that kit back in the late 80s and it wasn't bad. Never finished it, though.

I picked up a 1/400 (?) scale 688 (Los Angeles) class boat in Holland made by Revell. It went together farily well, but had some accuracy shortcomings (mainly vertical endplates on the stern planes that are on T-hulls and 640 class boomers, but not 688's). I did not measure it against a drawing or anything like that. Anyway, I built them for my boys when they were much younger (I even took off the fairwater planes and put on bow planes to model a 688I like the Miami), so they were toast very soon after construction. Wish I'd hung on to one of them. Anyway, those are the only ones I know of besides the Dragon kits. The D & E folks have some high end resin stuff that really looks nice built up, but they cost a wheelbarrow full of money.

DML also did one in 1/350th, seen it alone or with an Alpa

Isn't the ARII kit being repackaged now as the USS New York? You get two subs, One full hull, one waterline.

Thanks guys. You gave me some good leads. I saw on totalnavy.com the resin kits. They do look nice. They do cost some $$$$.
I never built a resin kit before. Maybe this is a good start.

The Yankee Modelworks 1/350 resin kits are fine but the Dragon 1/350 kits are okay too and cheaper. Do your research before doing the Dragon ( DML ) kit. You can do all the 688 class boats with this kit ( Early and late). But NONE of the 688 boats had vertical "wings" or stabelizers on their stern planes. They are molded in on the kit???? Go figure.
