Looking at the painted hull in my room reminded me that. Today is her 60th anniversary. May her and the 2600 crew rest in peace in the ocean..

btw..i heard that japan is building a 1:1 replica of the Yamato to commenmorate the 60th anni of WWII.

1:1 scale??? I think you mean 1:10 scale...

There's a beautiful 1:10 model of Yamato in Japan, I believe that it's been recently completed at the Kure museum...here's a photo...notice the worker on the deck...

Over on the j-aircraft message boards, there was mention of them building a section of the Yamato in 1:1 scale. Off the top of my graying head, I don't recall which portion it was.

Ditto. And thank you, Japan, for being a fine ally for a half century now.

I'll be heading on over to Kure next month to check out that 1/10 Yamato and the Yamato museum.
There is a 1/1 outline of the Yamato on the grounds of the museum as well.
I'' be sure to take and post lots of pix!

Holy man! That 1/10 scale Yamato is bigger than the size of a real life yacht[:0].
