Italeri 1/35 LCM Help!

I am thinking about getting the Italeri 1/35th LCM Landing Craft. It comes with 3 crew figures and 6 (DML) 29th Div. Infantry figures. And markings for Normandy and Iwo Jima.

I read in a review that the 28th Div. figures included are the DML Kit 6211 - 29th Division Infantry Omaha Beach D-Day 1944.

So am I correct in that if you build the LCM with Iwo Jima markings I cannot use the 29th Div. figures with it?

If not, what figures (DML, Tamiya, etc...) should I look for that would be appropriate for Iwo Jima in 1944?
