Hi all! I model Mississippi River towboats, Steamboats and sternwheelers and the such among my other modeling projects. Anyone else that comes around here build models on this subject also? I particularly like to build towboats and steamboats in 1/35 scale then I use and convert 1/35 scale model military figires to add to my boats to add some realism and character.

Hello,

Living on the Hudson River in upstate New York I have modeled two towboats from this area. The first, AMERICA-1852 is a 1/192 scale scratchbuilt model of a sidewheel towboat. The second, ROB, is a Hudson River tug of 1903 scratchbuilt in 1/96 scale.

I grew up near Ft. Benton Montana and always enjoyed building subjects of river and lake boats that once steamed the rivers and lakes of Montana.
I have built two side wheelers that represented those that streamed the upper Missourri and Yelowstone rivers. I had also built a replica of a 100' sternwheeler that once operated on Flathead Lake. I do not know where these are now, since I had built them a long time ago and dontated them to an exhibition. But, maybe someday I may build another.
