Flight Deck Finished on my 1/500 Scale Trumpeter Stennis
Posted by Duke Maddog on Sunday, April 24, 2005 9:21 PM
Hello all!

I'll be heading out for a week to help a friend move to Arizona, so any comments posted here will be read when I return next Sunday. I wanted to get these pics posted because I am rather pleased with the way this flight deck turned out.

Here is a side view of the Stennis showing the deck and the decals on the island as well:

Here I angled the camera a little higher so you could see the flight deck a little clearer:

NOTE: The landing circles and the number '74' are decals. The rest of the lines I painted on the deck. Trumpeter did not give decals for it, and I didn't have the cash to go get some aftermarket color strips to lay down.

Now a final shot of the carrier from another angle:

No, she's not done yet, there is still more construction and painting to do. I am finished with the flight deck and it is sealed with a coat of Future. Later, just before I cement the flight deck down to the hull, I'll be coating it in a dullcoat to tone down the shine.

Comments are welcome. I'll be back in a week to read any that get posted. Thank you for taking a look.

Thanks guys! I snuck in to see this just before leaving. Glad you like it.

Oldhooker, Yeah! She's a blast to build! Thanks for the comments and for stopping in.

Jake, this model is almost 3 feet long. Biggest ship I've done to date.

See you in a week!
