Yes,
The rule for standing rigging is: Botton to Top and from the Inboard to the outboard. (ie)
You would need to attach the lower forestay before the upper forestays, this way you would not tighten them too much and cause an misalignment. Check out my web shots album, and you can see the different steps.

The order I rigged is in the following steps on the 36" Revell Cutty Sark. Of course it's a little more complicated than I am willing to write, but here is a simple way to start.
1. You need to rig the lifeboat davits before anything, becasue you won't be able to reach them after you rig other parts.
2. Step the masts and inner jibboom
3. Rig the first lower stays and head gear rigging.
4. Step the outterjib and rig the bobstay spreaders.
5. Rig the 1st. backstay on all 3 masts'.
6. Step the next upper mast section and rig the forstays and backstays.
6. (repeat steps 3& 4) until done with the stnding rigging etc.
The running rigging is a little easier as you start from the top and work you way down. If you have spec. questions drop me a line always willing to help another 'shipper'.
