Martin summed it up nicely. Gel medium is the way to go. The are several articles in past issues of FSM written about the various techniques of gel medium.

I usually mount mine in acrylic gel to simulate a seascape. Once it hardens, the model is in there for good.

You can also attach the model to a wooden base with acrylic gel, but not in a seascape, by using the gel as a glue to hold the model to the base. Again, once it's attached - it's pretty much forever.

The trick here is to keep the gel under the hull, so it doesn't show.

Duhhh ... sorry!!! It's a waterline kit from Loose Cannon Productions, so mounting it on little pedestals is out.

Is your model waterline or full hull?

Mounting 1/700 scale ships

My first 1/700 Victory ship is complete (OK, I admit it, I had to resolve to stop messing with it!) and now I'm wondering how to mount it on a small wood plaque. Drilling a hole in the bottom and putting a screw up through the plaque sounds the most permanant, but I have been told that resin is brittle. Any other suggestions besides just gluing it on?
