Great Missouri dio from the Shizuoka Hobby Show
Posted by J-Hulk on Tuesday, May 17, 2005 1:22 PM
Here are some pix of a great diorama of the Japanese surrender ceremony aboard the battleship Missouri I took at the Shizuoka Hobby Show last weekend.
It's actually one of the winners of the recent TamiyaCon held in the US.
I can't remember the gentleman's name, but he sure did a good job!
In addition to the fine modelling of the 1/350 Tamiya Missouri kit, he added the necessary modifications and 2,800 crewmen (including General MacArthur!), one 1/350 scale figure at a time!
An excellent execution of an important moment in history.
Here are the pix:

Isn't that great?

I saw this one in person at TamiyaCon.

It's by Brian Joslyn and the diorama's titled "Apogee."

It's a really unbelievable piece of work, and I can't believe how patient he was to hand-install all those figures one at a time!

D'oh! His name is Brian! How could I forget that? (I'm Brian, too).
I had a chance to talk to him briefly in Shizuoka, and he told me that he glued the little guys on about a hundred per session. Amazing patience, indeed! And they're all on so straight, too...nerves and hands of steel!

Are thise little figures all flats? Or are they 3D models of people?

Brian, did you see the Hasegawa 1/350th Mikasa at the show?
