Where can I find a good wooden ship model forum?

I'm not at the scratch built level, but I'm interested in wooden ship models instead of plastic or resin, etc. Anyone know of a good forum?

This is no slouch place...we've got some well-known wooden ship modelers here, including a forum director of the Mariner's Museum...

Otherwise, the main place for ships of sail is without a doubt the Seaways Ships in Scale list.

Thanks for setting me straight. No insult intended. I've found this to be the premium scale model forum. Perhaps I've been too lazy in my subject search.

If your main interest lies in sailing vessels, try www.drydockmodels.com. Its primary focus is on ships of the nineteenth century and earlier. The participants are a widely-varied group from lots of different countries, with lots of levels of experience.

I think I may be the person Jeff referred to in his post. (Maybe not, though; there's at least one other member of this Forum who, I believe, serves as a volunteer at the Mariners' Museum.) To set the record straight, though, I was never the director of the MM. (If I'd been making that much money I might not have left.) I was a lowly assistant curator in charge of three-dimensional objects, including models.

Anyway, I spend far too much of my time alternating between this site and the Drydock Models one. There's a great deal to be learned, and lots of interesting people to meet, on both.

Youth, talent, hard work, and enthusiasm are no match for old age and treachery.

Director, Curator, they're all the same... :-)

Having been a museum director myself ('97-'04) there's a fine line between what we do that's curatorial and the overall 'big picture' tasks of a director...but I digress yet again.

In addition to continuing here, try the Yahoo Group "Seaways Ships in Scale". That seems to be about the most active forum I have found.

This is where I get all my questions answered. I only build wooden ships.

Blankenship1969,
What do you want to know?
Somebody reading these posts is sure to have the info you want. Do you want a solid hull or PoF?
Seek and you will find. Ask and it shall be given! (quote from a well known book)
