Thanks for that info Eddie. Unfortunately, Trumpeter neglected to add that detail to their decal sheet. The one you see is the repeat of the warning about jet blast rotors etc. I would love to add one, but I have no way of getting on in 1/500 scale. Sorry about that.

My signature has Aviation Boatswains Mate wings on it(crossed anchors with wings). All USN aircraft carriers display them proudly on the front of the island.Cool [8D]Here are a couple of examples from CV-41 and CV-61, respectively.

Eddie, I'm sorry, I don't know what AB wings are, so I couldn't tell you. Once I find out, I'll let you know. I only wish I'd had the money to get an AM set and do this right!

That is one beautiful ship! those lines look very nice. Being an AB and having to paint those lines a few times myself, I know they were a pain, but look sharp when done right.Approve [^]Thumbs Up [tup]Speaking of which, I couldn't see if there was a set of AB wings on the front of the island. Does the kit come with that decal? Everyone knows that AB's run the flt dk.Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]Laugh [(-D]

Thanks MBT! Yeah, it sure it a big ship alright, biggest one I ever built to date. Oh, and the long lines on the flight deck---they aren't decals. I had to paint them on since Trumpeter didn't include any decals for the lines.

Stay tuned here for pics of the air wing as I get done with it.

Seasick, thanks!

Frank, thank you for your kind words. I'm glad you like it. Yeah, the deck will be quite full once I get the air wing done.

Therriman, thank you for the info on the catapult extensions. That should be easy to fix. Unfortunately, the instructions never said anything so I had left them on. They'll be removed by the time I take more pics.

Stay tuned!

Looks good. But I don't believe the Stennis has the Catapult extensions at the bow.

I just did a check on www.navsource.org and No she does not.

Okay I lied, I'm a day late and a dollar short. Blush [:I] Here are some pics of my now COMPLETED John C Stennis!

We'll start with the port side:

Now the starboard:

From the bow:

(I didn't get a stern shot. Blush [:I] )

A shot from above showing the deck detail:

And finally a close-up of the island:

Now the only thing I need to do is finish painting the Air Wing. I started out already by spraying all the aircraft with a light sea grey. After that, I'll be painting on the details and then applying the decals to them.

Here's the basecoated Air Wing:

Well, I hope these pics are worth the wait. Comments are welcome.

My Trumpeter 1/500 scale John C Stennis is now fully built. I only have to paint a few details and the work on the air wing, but the construction is finally finished.
