Check out this page:

I am reluctant to publicise my own site here, but it is directly relevant to the poster's question.

Cordially,

I have cruise books from USS Okinawa (LPH 3) in the mid-1970s with photos. All the LPHs had very similar electronics fits and similar islands (except Inchon had no flag bridge).

To reply to another question here, I never heard that any aircraft routinely operated in STOL mode with an LPH. The flight deck and electronics were not designed for STOL. It would be difficult even to park all the helicopters to clear a runway. It's conceivable that experiments were done, perhaps with the AV-8 and OV-10 but I've never seen a photograph of that.

At 1/72 your model will be over 2.5m or 8 feet long. That's BIG.

Hi,

I´m looking for detailed photos of the deck and island, because I´m building one of these ships in 1/72.
Could anybody help me?

The LPD17 San Antonio class is the latest Gator ship to join the US Fleet.
It is designed to fill the new Littoral combat theater.

I'm curious to know what these ships have been replaced with now that the existing LPH classification ships have all been retired. Also, is the deck suitable for some classes of STOL planes or is it only useful for VTOL craft?
