I'm working on two (1 Early WW II & 1 Late WW II) US Fleet subs. Both are based on Revell's "Lionfish" kit (of ancient vintage). I've got two PE sets, two different resin conning towers, two different basswood decks and two sets of custom PE's for the limber hole detail on the superstructure. Now my questions are:
1) The propellers are counter-rotating, but which one is clockwise? Port or Starboard?
2) Exterior torpedo tube doors. I can't find any reference works that show the appearance. Does anyone know of a source for photos that show the doors?
3) The bow planes have a support brace. It would seem to me that the external end of this would have to be articulated in some way, but, again, I can't find any pictures. Does anyone know of a souce that would show this?
4) Any suggestions for the display base? On sailing ships I've built I've used two or three brass lamp finials to support the hull. Somehow I don't think that this would look good.
