Corvette Decks
Posted by Spurdog on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 7:29 AM
I'm just starting the Revell Flower Class Corvette, HMCS Snowberry. I remember reading somewhere that the decks are inaccurate, in that they are portrayed as wooden, when in fact they should be all -steel. Was there anywhere on the ship where the decks were actually wooden?

I served on several US Destroyers that had wooden gratings inside and outside the pilot house (bridge).

The corvettes had wood deck sections forward, around the forward gun mount. Everything else was steel. They would have used wooden duckboards on the bridge decks. If you're painting her up in Western Approaches camouflage, the steel decks were painted MS2. You'll find that and all other wartime RN camouflage colors accurately matched and available in our Colourcoats enamels. No minimum order on paints, and we ship worldwide.

What colour were the wooden decks? Were they painted MS2 as well?
