Orange Deck Color for the Sovremenny Destroyer
Posted by F4PHANTOMGUY on Thursday, June 16, 2005 11:59 AM
The instructions for Trumpeter's 1/200 scale Sovremenny Destroyer indicates that some of the decks should be painted orange. Who makes the best paint to replicate this russian deck color? Thanks in advance for all assistance.Big Smile [:D]

I believe Testors and Tamiya do

On the workbench: Dragon 1/350 scale Ticonderoga class USS BunkerHill 1/720 scale Italeri USS Harry S. Truman 1/72 scale Encore Yak-6

The 71st Tactical Fighter Squadron the only Squadron to get an Air to Air kill and an Air to Ground kill in the same week with only a F-15 http://photobucket.com/albums/v332/Mikeym_us/

You want it accurate? We have the Russian Deck Red accurately matched (to actual samples) and available in our Colourcoats enamels. No minimum order on paints, and we ship worldwide. You'll also find it from several dealers in the US and Canada.

Cheers,

Thanks for the responses and update re: DECK RED not ORANGEConfused [%-)]. I am eager to order the paint from White Ensign in the UK. I am using their 1/200 scale photo etched detail set and it is wonderful. I ordered my detail set from Roll Models in the USA.Big Smile [:D]

Yes, it's deck red or dark red, not orange. My modeler used industrial paints and he built both type 956 and 956 E out of the boxes :

The WEM colourcoat paints are exquisite. Thinned 50-50, they airbrush like a dream - very thin coat with great coverage. Straight from the tinlet, they brush like nobody's business. Acrylics have back in my drawer since I started using WEM. And I have no connection with them at all, just a totally satisfied customer.

You're welcome, F4PHANTOMGUY. I'm glad you enjoyed my collection.
I still have a 1:350 Sovremenny Destroyer in box, can't wait to see it when
finished and placed next to the 1:350 Kuznetzov Aircraft Carrier! Wink [;)]
