Frank...

I am also starting the same 1/72 U Boat!

If your a PC game player, you should try the game Silent Hunter III. Its a German UBoat sim that statrts you in a career in 1939 and takes you all the way to 1945. You start out in a Type IIA U boat and can skipper such Uboats as the VII (B/C/C40/C41), IX (B,C, D2), and the XXI!

Anywho it would be GREAT if you can post any experiences you have during the building process! I would LOVE to know what Im in for :-)

Hello ! I just started building the Revell 1/72 scale U-Boat ( Type VIIC ) for a friend , it will be basically " out of the box " . I normally build Armor models , but this kit has caught my eye , so much , that I want to build one for myself . I would like to thank the guys in the previous posts , for their info , and great ideas , on upgrading " The Boat " , to a later version . Also thanks to the other guys in this forum , on U-boat colors , and comments on the Revell U-boat , from my previous posts .I have watched the movie " The Boat " several times , and I think I'm hooked on U-Boats !

Ahoy modelbuilder,

I have heard but cannot confirm that either Yankee modelworks or
Nautilus models is working on a conversion for this u-boat, to
convert it to a type VII-C/41 which has the extended wintergarten and
lots of armament.
You could also try scratchbuilding. And in as far as armament goes,
the Revell Schnellboot S-100 could provide the following:

37mm(Flak 36) cannon
20mm(Flak 38) AA
20mm AA double barreled machine gun

Hasegawa makes an 8 ton German half track , you can borrow the beautiful
Quad 20mm AA from this kit to add to the u-boat.

Have a nice day and happy modeling.

As of yet, no one yet has produced a "turm IV" version of the tower, but there are plenty of aftermarket items available for this model in it's current configuration.

(I'm waiting for a new tower, deck, schnorkel, etc. for one myself.)

go to
http://www.modelsbymickster.com/
to see a huge list of sets- everything from new decks to interior sets to crews.

BTW- Jeff Herne has scratchbuilt such a mod for his Amati Type VII...perhaps he could lend some advice...

Hi all, I have recently recieved the Revell 1/72 scale Type VIIC as a gift and I was wondering if anyone is making coversion sets for it yet. The model will be fantastic out of the box but I have always loved the look of the Uboats with the extended winter garden and quad 20mm AA gun. Would love to build mine like this. Any advice would be appreciated.
