Col. Kurtz,
With all due respect, you need to be very careful stating that you will recast something that is on the market. That's a major copy right violation and you can be in a lot of legal hassle's. You never know who visiting this board, it could be the distrib. ot the kits you want to re-cast.
In December 1988, I was selected by FSM magazine build the Monogram "Three Fighting Men" model for review and they liked it so much they selected it to be on the cover of the January 1989 issue. That really helped my business, so in late '89 I started simply building and selling these kits for people.
In 1990, I was contacted by a big law firm out of Washington DC, on behalf of the Vietnam Veterans Association Memorial Foundation and was threatened with a lawsuit for copyright infringment simply becasue I was building, painted and selling the model for profit. I had to get a lawyer to explain to the other lawfirm that I was allowed to build and sell any type of kit I paid for since the act of buying the kit was infact paying for the copyright release. You can do what you want with a single kit you buy, but you CANNOT make copies of it to give ot sell away.
My lawyer could not believe the greed of the VVA foundation or there greedover this issue.
Below is a webshot accounts so you can see the model.
