The Midship models Alabama & Massachusetts are future releases. The "sold out" indicator is used since the cart software does not have a "future release" catagory. It is a placeholder for the release + a way to add your name to a list to be notified about availability.

I checked out the website for the 1/350 SOUTH DAKOTA and I'm on a mailing list 'cause the first batch of models is sold out, supposedly. So, who's got one? Anybody, or is this just marketing hype to see if there's any interest?

Will,

It looks like you are tooled up nicely and your first efforts are very good ... a few tricks and techniques and you'll be an old hand in no time. Your subscription to FSM is also a major leap ahead and there are some other things you should do to dial yourself into the art of scale modeling. First, spend some time reading as many of the old posts as you can on this website. Many of the questions you might have were answered over and over again and there is indeed a fairly recent thread about 1/350 ships a couple weeks back. Second, go to any and all local hobby shows and even enter some contests. Talk with and learn from seasoned scale enthusiasts. We wouldn't laugh at you here unless you just got plain silly ... and I doubt you would. Welcome to the board and to a very satisfying and educational hobby.

Well, I think we've had this conversation before (lots of times in fact).

Midship Models has announced a 1/350 SoDak, you can see the box art at Tridenthobbies.com.

As much as I'd like to see a 350th Baltimore, I wouldn't put any bets on them scaling up a 700 kit. After all, they've got other 700 kits that they haven't scaled up that would be considered 'more popular' sellers in the mainstream market. And no...we're not the mainstream market... Wink [;)]

I'm not raining on anyone's parade, because USN cruisers are at the top of my list for new plastic kits I'd like to see too, directly under Myoko and Takao.

Does Trumpeter's announcement of a 1/700 Baltimore Class Crusier mean that a 1/350 version is in the works - lets hope so!!

And while they are at it - how about an Atlanta Class and Cleavland to boot!!

A South Dak would be a nice round out to the beautiful NC.

And while they are at it the full set of destroyer classes would be nice compliments to those carriers!
