I agree. I have both the Missouri and the New Jersey kits. Both are very, very nice and the Iowa should be no different.

The August list of new kit announcements on the Tamiya website ( www.tamiya.com ) includes a 1/700 U.S.S. Iowa in 1944 configuration.

If I'm not mistaken, this is the first plastic kit to represent the Iowa-class's open bridge structure. All those who have converted the Missouri kit to that configuration are invited to fall on their swords.

On the basis of the Missouri kit, it's safe to assume that this one will be a beauty - especially with the help of the excellent Gold Medal Models photo-etched parts set. This is one I just may actually build.

Youth, talent, hard work, and enthusiasm are no match for old age and treachery.
